Hi, I'm

Teyonna Bowman

I’m the founder of Pausitive Outlook — a platform dedicated to sharing information about early detection and empowering women through the complexities of menopause, especially those navigating it after cancer treatment.

I was diagnosed with hormone-sensitive breast cancer at 35, despite an active and healthy lifestyle. My world was turned upside down. After successfully completing surgery and treatment, I faced an unexpected recurrence less than five years later — leading to medically induced menopause.

Determined to increase conversations about menopause, I launched Pausitive Outlook to share my journey, connect survivors, and support women in this previously unspoken transition.

In 2024, I expanded the platform with The Second Bloom, a live event series fostering community, self-advocacy, and access to menopause-focused experts and products. I also launched Menopause Unwrapped, a social media series that blends education with humor to highlight the unique challenges young survivors face post-treatment.

From Survivor to
Advocate

"The severe symptoms I experienced — WAY beyond just hot flashes — revealed a critical gap in the conversation, particularly for young survivors."

Ensuring No Woman Faces This Alone - Mission Statement

Pausitive Outlook exists to educate, empower, and support young women — especially breast cancer survivors — as they navigate medically induced menopause, providing the community, knowledge, and joy that the healthcare system too often leaves out.

A Timeline of Everything

From diagnosis to the state capitol — every chapter that led to Pausitive Outlook.

2016

I was diagnosed with Stage 1C invasive ductal carcinoma. This is me the day before my nipple sparing, double mastectomy with reconstruction. I put on a strong face but was terrified thinking about what the future could look like.

2017 - 2020

New jobs, cancer-free parties, BC walks, renewed strength, and a new yoga practice made me feel like the scariest chapter of my life had come to an end. It got to the point where I honestly only thought about cancer when I thought about it.

2021

Done with surgery, radiation and outwardly visible cancer treatment. I rang the bell — and then had to figure out what came next. Recurrence led to medically induced menopause, and the severe symptoms that followed revealed a critical gap in the conversation for young survivors.

2022 — Pausitive Outlook Begins

I felt so lost, so I tried learning about what was happening to my mind and body. That's when Pausitive Outlook started — in my notes, out of necessity. Determined to change the conversation, I launched the platform to share my journey and support women in this unspoken transition.

2024 — The Second Bloom Launches

Launched The Second Bloom, a live event series fostering community, self-advocacy, and access to menopause-focused experts and products. A fun, safe space for women to talk about the menopause journey — and build something together.

Present — Advocacy

I've jumped into advocacy — volunteering with the Know Your Lemons Foundation, working with the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network, and showing up at the state capitol to share my story. It feels great. This is the chapter I didn't know I was writing.

2017

Four rounds of chemo, hair loss, zombie nails, and lots of naps. The body keeps going even when you're not sure it will.

2021 — Recurrence

Recurrence. Enter rage, confusion, frustration, and fear. The world I thought I'd left behind was back. Less than five years after my first diagnosis…another pre-surgery selfie

2022

My journey continued. Monthly infusion center visits (now quarterly) — ovarian suppression shots, two years of Verzenio (oral chemo), bone scans, and Zometa infusions to address the Osteopenia I had developed. Brutal. Sometimes lonely. All after ringing the bell.

2024

Along the way I’ve found my voice (also submitted to more hair loss with a new ‘do) and started having fun with this new life. The community I had been building started to feel real — and deeply meaningful.

2025 — Menopause Unwrapped

Launched Menopause Unwrapped, a social media series and newsletter that blends education with humor to highlight the unique challenges young survivors face post-treatment. Because sometimes you have to laugh to get through it.
