Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

I had the honor and pleasure of not only participating in two American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks, but also of being a part of the Pink Saves Campaign for the Citadel Outlets in Los Angeles.

The Pink Saves Campaign included a series of events that raised awareness for breast cancer, promoted early detection via free mobile mammograms, shared survivor stories (I was one of them) and provided discounts for outlet stores participating in the campaign. All funds raised during the campaign supported the Making Strides Walk of LA.

When it was all said and done, the San Francisco and Los Angeles walks had more than 17,000 participants and well over $500,000 was raised!!

It’s impossible to sum up what a breast cancer diagnosis means but life after...is a blessing and is beautiful.

It comes with a million and one complexities.

It comes with support, love and celebration.

It comes with lessons.

It comes with tears and laughter.

It brings joy, sorrow, and perspective.

It brings peace knowing that there is funding for research supporting better outcomes.

It brings unrest knowing that there’s still so much more to do to eradicate breast cancer as we know it.

I’m incredibly grateful to have been a part of such a powerful movement for change. Looking forward to continuing to move the needle!
